Impact of Tariffs on Survival Gear Canada
Due to recent trade developments between the United States and Canada, we have made the difficult decision to pause all orders of American-made goods. The newly imposed 25% tariff is having a substantial effect on the Canadian outdoors industry, making it challenging to import products from U.S. manufacturers and suppliers. This includes Pathfinder and Uberleben.
As a result, we will be increasing our reliance on brands from Canada, Europe, and Asia. Many Canadian distributors have also had to suspend shipments from the U.S. for the time being.
At Survival Gear Canada, we are committed to offering the most competitive prices allowed by manufacturers. When factoring in currency exchange and shipping, our prices are often more affordable than those of American retailers. We will make every effort to prevent price increases due to tariffs, but external factors may impact costs over time.
If the trade dispute continues in the long term, it may result in a complete shift away from American-made products. Additionally, importing from Europe and Asia often involves longer shipping times due to reliance on sea freight, which could lead to extended wait times for certain items.
Any price adjustments resulting from tariffs, rather than routine manufacturer price changes, will be removed immediately if and when tariffs are lifted.
We truly appreciate the ongoing support of the Canadian outdoors community. Given the strong presence of American brands in the industry, these trade challenges could have a significant impact within Canada. We remain committed to serving our customers and adapting to these evolving circumstances.
Sincerely,
R&H Distributing
